Picking the right excursion for your kids in Zadar region

Picking the right excursion for your kids in Zadar region

It is difficult to imagine any child to be bored at Zaton Holiday Resort. With or without wi-fi. There’s just so much to do, activities to discover and be a part of. Yet again, it doesn't mean you won't go out of the resort on an excursion, to check out a number of exciting places in Zadar region.

In order to make the trip truly enjoyable for every member of the family, particularly the kids, choose wisely and here’s how:

When in Zadar…

Greetings to the Sun

Don’t visit every museum, or walk every historical street and square and along the city walls recently listed as UNESCO’s World Heritage Site. Because complaints about having to walk a long way will ruin your day! Pick things that will excite your kids as well - climbing the Belltower of St Anastasia’s Cathedral, listening to the Sea Organ and watching the light show made by the Greetings to the Sun, visiting the Museum of Illusions (which happens to be by the city walls).

Take a walk to Nin …

St Gregory’s statue

And your kids will still have just the right amount of energy to take the tour of the salt works, which doesn’t take too long and gives the kids the opportunity to freely discover something new. Don’t forget to hold the toe of St Gregory’s statue and take a fun family photo. If you decide to spend a day in Nin, your kids will probably love the chance to cover their bodies in healing mud (near the Queen’s Beach), just for the fun of it.

Visiting national parks

Krka national park

Both Plitvice Lakes and Krka national parks are too lovely to be missed. Still, if you want to enjoy them to the fullest and have small children who most likely cannot walk for a few hours, you should probably take a rain check for when they get older or settle with seeing just parts of it. It’s something you can check and plan ahead. They are definitely worth it, just as Paklenica NP. There you can pick a less challenging trail, and still see amazing scenery. Similarly, Kornati islands NP and Telašćica Nature Park are amazing wonders of nature. But if takes a couple of hours to get there, and if you think your kids will have difficulties to handle the boat ride, why not consider a panoramic flight instead, which they will most certainly enjoy?

Sporty family trip

Zrmanja

Canoeing along Zrmanja river to get to know its canyon and amazing scenery is a great choice for families. Every member participates in discovering nature’s gem while creating fun memories together. The same goes for cycling trips, since there are numerous cycling trails available in Zadar region. Parents can plan and adjust their trip according to their kids’ preferences. No haste, just good times with family.

Pure fun for kids

While kids can find plenty of adventure and fun at the resort, they might also enjoy a visit to an adventure park nearby, such as the one in Kožino near Zaton. Another option is recently opened fun park, the largest in Croatia, near Biograd na Moru (south of Zadar).

Happy kids, happy you

When your kids laugh and have a good time, you cannot but feel the same. So, no matter how much you’d like to explore Zadar region, just bear in mind what your kids will enjoy and love, according to their age and abilities. Simply because nature and sights lose their charm if your kids are complaining about this and that, just as the opposite is true - watching them interact with amazing sights will make your day simply fabulous!
